Carnegie Mellon University Continues to Rely on Monterey for Affordable and Reliable IC Design and Manufacturing Research.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- Monterey Design Systems today announced the continuation of its academic program with Carnegie Mellon University Carnegie Mellon University, at Pittsburgh, Pa.; est. 1967 through the merger of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (founded 1900, opened 1905) and the Mellon Institute of Industrial Research (founded 1913).  (CMU), which has used Monterey's Dolphin Physical Implementation System for the past several years in a research program to optimize the performance vs. cost of trade-off in the development of Via Patterned Gate Array (VPGA VPGA Via Patterned Gate Array ) chips and discover more affordable and reliable design structures in IC design and manufacturing.

According to Dr. Lawrence Pileggi, professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of the Center of Silicon System Implementation (CSSI CSSI Critical Skills Shortage Initiative
