Business Editors/High Tech Writers

BALTIMORE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 10, 2000

ROSIE (Remote Operator Service and Internet Environment)

is 'Core of Voice/Data Breakthrough'

Carnegie International Corporation (OTCBB OTCBB

See OTC Bulletin Board (OTCBB).
:CGYC CGYC Canossian Global Youth Conference

) announced today that a new communications center which combines voice and data - "representing the core of a voice/data technology breakthrough" - is about to be beta tested by its European subsidiary.

Lowell Farkas, president of Carnegie, an Internet support and computer telephony holding company, said the new technology was developed by Profit Thru Telecommunications (Europe) Ltd., of Sheffield, England. "PTT (1) (Postal, Telegraph & Telephone) The governmental agency responsible for combined postal, telegraph and telephone services in many European countries.

(2) See push-to-talk.

PTT - Post, Telephone and Telegraph administration
 has pioneered other voice/data technology," said Mr. Farkas, "and this time, we believe something even more special has been developed."

Michael Faulks, the managing director of PTT and the vice president and director of information services See Information Systems.  for the Carnegie International parent company, said the new unit "possesses the cutting edge technology developed for MAVIS(TM), Carnegie's multi-language, voice-driven message management system, along with a full range of communications capabilities in a solid state NT computer that is dedicated to the needs of small business."

Introducing `ROSIE'

The new system, named ROSIE(c) (for Remote Operator Service and Internet Environment) by Mr. Faulks, uses a high-speed network, such as the ISDN ISDN

Digital telecommunications network that operates over standard copper telephone wires or other media.
 available in the U.K., to provide access to the public telephone network and the Internet.

Now beginning beta testing (programming) beta testing - Testing a pre-release (potentially unreliable) version of a piece of software by making it available to selected users. This term derives from early 1960s terminology for product cycle checkpoints, first used at IBM but later standard throughout the , ROSIE uses high-speed Internet access to support:
- telephones and faxes, and least-cost routing;

- voice mail, driven by both speech and touch tone;

- call screening;

- 7x24 interactive response to customer calls, with after-hours call diversion
capability to phones and/or beepers;

- e-mail delivery to local telephone or home computers, and

- call blocking.

In addition, ROSIE will offer the capability to support additional modules that will include credit authorization, as well as the ability to perform point-of-sale transactions.

In developing ROSIE, PTT has been working with two U.K. groups - Vetsfriend (www.Vetsfriend.com), a group of allied veterinarian veterinarian /vet·er·i·nar·i·an/ (vet?er-i-nar´e-an) a person trained and authorized to practice veterinary medicine and surgery; a doctor of veterinary medicine.

ALFT Action-Level Fault Tolerance
, www.qmbuy.com), an association dedicated to pubs, clubs and small hotels, bed and breakfast establishments. The groups have more than 7,200 members and in excess of 60,000 accounts.

Mr. Faulks said there are more than 2.4 million small businesses in the U.K. "whose communications capabilities could be revolutionized with ROSIE," which he said "represents the core of a voice/data technology breakthrough."

Speaking from Carnegie's international headquarters in Baltimore, Mr. Farkas said "ROSIE brings state-of-the-art communications capability to an incredibly wide range of all small business, such as doctors, dentists, veterinarians, accountants, lawyers, hotels, bed and breakfasts, along with other service-oriented organizations, with the common denominator being service. Because ROSIE has the inherent ability to schedule appointments, process reservations, handle emergencies, and even offer Internet access in one package to run on NT computers, Carnegie is very enthusiastic about our opportunity in capturing a major share of an emerging marketplace."

Mr. Farkas said the ROSIE small business communications center will initially be sold by the two U.K. groups, with a suggested retail of $5,000 (U.S.).

He said the system will be backed by 7 x 24 service for any problems that may exist in the software. Carnegie's president said that "even penetrating a small portion of the U.K. market with ROSIE could generate up to $5 million in revenue during its first 12 months of availability. After the introduction of ROSIE in the U.K., Mr. Farkas said sales efforts would expand throughout Europe and across the U.S.

He also said that Carnegie's flagship MAVIS product, also developed by PTT, would be made available for sale based on information from its speech engine supplier, during the first quarter of 2001. Mr. Farkas said that speech-activated voice-driven products "will have a major impact on how telephones and voice mail are used in the future," and that all product manufacturers using speech depend on third party speech engines "which are just now being perfected to the point that the reliability allows for commercial use."
