Carmina Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:CARL) announced that the company's ASSUR technology for detecting virulent virus strains is gaining momentum thanks to overwhelming response at recent health information events.

At a recent presentation to Ontario Health Units, the company received positive feedback with requests for more information from more than two-thirds of the attending divisions.

Carmina Technology has developed an ASSUR water inspection application to monitor inspections for contaminants such as e-coli, which claimed 8 lives and infected as many as 2000 in Walkerton, Ontario, in 2000. Health professionals at the event were impressed by the flexibility of ASSUR's protocol, which permits the gathering and analysis of data on whatever epidemics or hazards the Health Units are tracking -- everything from SARS and West Nile Virus outbreaks to rabies or rabbit diseases endemic in the wild.

Carmina's technicians are working closely with the health care professionals to prepare protocols for each of these desired applications. The company is attending a conference of 300 Canadian Health Units in Edmonton, Alberta on June 23 and 24, 2003 to bring health professionals from across Canada up to date on developments.

In the meantime Guelph University has implemented Carmina's ASSUR protocol to handle surveys of returning students designed to keep track of those that may have had contact with SARS patients. The ability to collect survey results in real-time avoids delays in screening at risk people and limiting the spread of the disease.

Additionally, the adoption by Guelph Food Technology Centre of Carmina's ASSUR FQP (Food Quality Protection) solution as the technology of choice for implementing the HACCP protocol, (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) in the international agrifood industry is a further example of the confidence that is building in Carmina's ASSUR solutions.
