The CTS philosophy is based on the concept of developing an individual's aerobic system and a high level of fitness without the detrimental effects of high intensity training. What it comes down to is: more gain with less pain.

Brian Walton, silver medal winner at the 1996 Olympics and USA Cycling's 2003 Development Coach of the Year for his work with Team Snow Valley, is the Director of Performance at Cadence. In addition to overseeing the CTS program at Cadence, Walton provides state-of-the-art equipment for analyzing and enhancing VO2, the body's ability to absorb, deliver and transport oxygen; high altitude hypoxic hypoxic

"Our CTS performance program is open to everyone, whether they are competitive cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, triathletes or men and women looking to improve their overall physical condition," Walton said. "Our Cadence CTS staff will provide the guidance and programs formerly only available to elite athletes. Individuals will set their personal goals and follow CTS training concepts to reach it."

Men and women participating in the training program can use their own bikes on the computerized simulators, which can duplicate a variety of road courses, including the Wachovia Pro Cycling Championship route through Philadelphia's streets.

Carmichael, of Colorado Springs, CO, will be at the opening from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In addition to Walton and Carmichael, also on hand will be TV cycling commentator Bob Roll, 1995 US Pro Cycling Champion Norm Alvis and a host of cycling experts. A silent auction, featuring a Wilier Time Trial bike ridden by the Tour de France winner Marco Pantani, an autographed Lance Armstrong jersey, gifts, prizes and seminars will highlight the grand opening.
