Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation. (Appointments).


Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation (Ind.) has a new director in Phillip L. Bennett. Bennett brings to his new role over 35 years experience in parks and recreation administration, primarily in the Fort Wayne Fort Wayne, city (1990 pop. 173,072), seat of Allen co., NE Ind., where the St. Joseph and St. Marys rivers join to form the Maumee River; inc. 1840. It is the second largest city in the state, a major railroad and shipping point, a wholesale and distribution hub,  Parks & Recreation Department. He has been Superintendent of Leisure Services in Fort Wayne since 1998, and last year also served on an interim basis as Fort Wayne's director of parks and recreation. "We are very pleased to attract a parks professional of Phil's caliber to our community," said Jim Rosensteele, president of the Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation Board. "He has an outstanding record of achievement in all the major aspects of his field, from personnel management and planning, to facility and program management and marketing. And wherever he has worked, he has earned the trust and respect of his co-workers, public officials and park constituents throughout his community. We feel sure that Phil is PHIL IS Philippine Islands  the right person to guide the department as we work together with the citizens of Carmel Clay to plan and develop Central Park and complete construction at our other park sites over the coming years." Bennett holds a B.S. in Recreation and Park Administration from Indiana University Indiana University, main campus at Bloomington; state supported; coeducational; chartered 1820 as a seminary, opened 1824. It became a college in 1828 and a university in 1838. The medical center (run jointly with Purdue Univ.  in Bloomington, and an M.Ed. from Miami University Miami University, main campus at Oxford, Ohio; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1809, opened 1824. , the Indiana Park and Recreation Association (where he is past president and director), and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. He has served on the adjunct faculty at Indiana University-Purdue University at Fort Wayne, and on the board of directors of the Fort Wayne Sports Corporation, Hoosier State Games, the Fort Wayne Rotary Club and the Fort Wayne Boys & Girls Club.
