Carlon Hotels reflags historic Martinque.


Carlson Hotels Worldwide is expanding its portfolio in New York City New York City: see New York, city.

City (pop., 2000: 8,008,278), southeastern New York, at the mouth of the Hudson River. The largest city in the U.S.
 with the reflagging of a 532-room historic hotel located in the heart of the west side of midtown Manhattan.

The hotel, historically known as The Martinque, is undergoing a $10 million renovation which is touching virtually all public spaces and guest rooms in the property. It will become the Radisson Hotel Martinique on July 1, 2006.

The hotel is located on the corner of Broadway and 32nd Street, minutes from the Empire State Building, Herald Square Herald Square is formed by the intersection of Broadway, Sixth Avenue (officially named Avenue of the Americas) and 34th Street in the borough of Manhattan in New York City. "Combined with the Radisson Hotel Lexington, which is also going through the final stages of a major renovation, Carlson Hotels Worldwide now offers two premier hotels with over 1,200 rooms in the country's top hotel market," she added.

Built in 1897, the soon-to-be Radisson Hotel Martinique retains its historic French Renaissance architecture French Renaissance architecture is the style of architecture which was imported from Italy during the early 16th century and developed in the light of local architectural traditions. , including an original marble winding staircase leading to all floors and an original mosaic tile floor in the lobby.

"In 2005 and 2006, more than $500 million have been invested by Radisson hotel owners, including Carlson Hotels Worldwide, in renovations and upgrades to Radisson Hotels & Resorts in the Americas," she added.
