"We have heard the rumours for a long time about Carlo, but he is such a professional he never let it affect him in the dressing room. He was just focused on Milan.

"He is strict and likes players to train hard, give everything for the club and be focused, but he talks to them and has a good relationship with them." Crespo, who was snapped up by Milan boss Ancelotti from Chelsea in 2004, reckons his former boss can take the Blues to Champions League glory, after winning the trophy twice both as a player and coach.

Crespo said: "Ancelotti knows how to win. He has the respect of all those who work with him. In return he brings success.

"Ancelotti knows how to inspire big players and how to motivate players in big matches. I wish him success."

Seedorf added: "Italian football is more defensive than the Premier League but for a good coach change will not be a problem and Carlo is one of the best."
