:CARL) announced today that its board of directors has approved a one-for-five reverse stock split of its outstanding common stock, applicable to shareholders of record at the close of trading on September 15, 1998. The reverse split was undertaken to remain in compliance with NASDAQ's requirements for listing on the National Market. After the reverse split, Carleton Corporation will have approximately 3.34 million shares of common stock outstanding.

Registered shareholders as of the close of trading on September 15, 1998 will receive written notice regarding the procedure for exchanging their stock certificates. The Company also noted that for 20 trading days In Business, the trading day is the time span that a particular stock exchange is open. For example, the New York Stock Exchange is, as of 2006, open from 09:30AM to 4:00PM. Trading days never take place on weekends.  after the split, the Company's shares will trade under the symbol "CARLD." On October 14, 1998, the symbol will revert to "CARL."
