Carl E. Painter, chairman of BICC Cables Corporation, elected director of London-based BICC plc; Chairman and CEO of one of the largest wire and cable companies in North America named to board of directors of parent company.


WEST NYACK, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 16, 1995--BICC Cables Corp., one of North America's largest manufacturers of electrical wire and cable, today announced that its chairman and chief executive officer, Carl E. BICC Group Chairman, Sir Robin Biggam, commenting on the appointment, said, "Carl Painter has been responsible for a number of major operating improvements in our North American cables business over the 18-month period he has been chairman of BICC Cables Corporation. His appointment to the board recognizes the importance which the BICC Group attaches to its North American cables business."

Painter has nearly 20 years of experience in the electrical industry, including senior management positions in manufacturing, marketing and general management. From 1987 to 1992, he was executive vice president of BICC Cables unit of BICC Cables with nearly $300 million in sales. In 1992, Painter led the acquisition of the Electrical Division of Reynolds Metals Company and its subsequent integration with Cablec Utility Cable Company.

Painter is one of the founders of the company, which was formed in 1984 with the management buyout Management buyout (MBO)
