The four South Elena holes were drilled by CaribGold's portable diamond drill and, although core recovery was poor due to surface weathering, encouraging gold results have been confirmed in a flat dipping vein structure. Initial trenching results from the South Elena vein structure were released on June 11, 1996. The quartz vein in the discovery trench averaged 7.46 g/t. Diamond drilling with the portable rig is continuing in the South Elena area where prospecting has followed the structure over a potential strike length of 1.4 kilometres. Trenching is also continuing. The large diamond drill that is currently testing the Sigua prospect will be moved to Camaguey to test the South Elena structure to depth and along strike on completion of the 1500 metre Sigua program.
