Cargo operators win contract.THE Mersey Docks and Harbour Company The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company (MDHC) is the current incarnation of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Board which itself had replaced Liverpool Dock Trustees who had run the docks since 1780. has awarded a multi- million pound contract to Finning Materials Handling to supply and service port side cargo handling across the Port of Liverpool The Port of Liverpool is the name for the enclosed dock system that runs from Herculaneum Dock to Seaforth Dock, on the east side of the River Mersey, combined with the facilities built around the Great Float on the west side of the river. . The six-year agreement continues an existing relationship, started in 1983, between MDHC MDHC Mersey Docks and Harbour Company (Liverpool, UK) MDHC Morecambe and District Hockey Club MDHC Maryland Hardcore MDHC Main Deck Hatch Closed and Dogged MDHC McKay Dee Hospital Center (Ogden, Utah) , theUK's second largest port group, and the sole national distributor of Cat lift trucks. Finning will have a team at Seaforth Dock to provide 24-hour fleet service support for 30 units,including seven trucks and a number of cranes. The Seaforth container operation is acknowledged by shipping lines and road hauliers as one of the UK's most efficient facilities. Tom McCloy,Finning Materials Handling,divisional director, said:``The new deal is testament to the ongoing hard work of the Liverpool Finning team.'' Ben Stafford,Mersey Docks'engineering services manager, said:``With container ships regularly turned around in less than 12 hours and road haulage vehicles serviced in an average of less than an hour, the Seaforth Terminal requires a lift plant provider able to guarantee the highest levels of fleet uptime.''
