CENTREVILLE, Va. -- Carfax, pioneer of the vehicle history report, today announced a ground-breaking environmental effort - making the company entirely carbon neutral. Through partnerships with The Conservation Fund and Carbonfund.org, Carfax will offset all carbon emissions generated by its day-to-day business operations Business operations are those activities involved in the running of a business for the purpose of producing value for the stakeholders. Compare business processes. The outcome of business operations is the harvesting of value from assets , such as corporate travel, marketing and sales operations and company-supported events. Carfax will kick off the campaign with the Carfax 250 NASCAR Busch Series race at Michigan International Speedway Michigan International Speedway is a two-mile (3.22 km), moderate-banked, D shaped superspeedway located off U.S. Highway 12 on more than 1,400 acres [1] near Brooklyn, in the scenic Irish Hills area of southeastern Michigan. , which will make history on Saturday, August 18 as the first-ever carbon neutral stock car event.

"Making positive contributions towards global climate change is a major corporate and personal concern for us," said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax. "Starting with our single largest marketing initiative, the Carfax 250, we're taking the first step to reducing our carbon footprint A carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases emitted over the full life cycle of a product or service. . It's a lot easier than most people think to get started, but we realize there's still a long road ahead. Through the help and support of our environmental partners, we'll figure out those next steps."

Carfax will continue working closely with its environmental partners to further expand the carbon neutral campaign in the coming months.

"Climate change is one of the greatest environmental challenges of our time," said The Conservation Fund's President, Larry Selzer. "The Fund applauds Carfax for its industry-leading approach to addressing this challenge. By demonstrating a market-based approach to conservation we can help reduce greenhouse gas greenhouse gas

emissions, safeguard critical wildlife habitat, protect our nation's air and water, and enhance public recreation areas for current and future generations."

Carfax is making a donation to Carbonfund.org to purchase and retire carbon offsets for its operations and activities associated with the Carfax 250 NASCAR Busch Series race. This includes employee and fan travel to and from the event and onsite emissions as well, including those generated by the 43 stock cars competing in the race.

"Carfax has taken impressive steps toward fighting climate change by not only taking responsibility for its own corporate carbon dioxide carbon dioxide, chemical compound, CO2, a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas that is about one and one-half times as dense as air under ordinary conditions of temperature and pressure.  emissions, but also the emissions resulting from Carfax-sponsored events such as the Carfax 250," said Eric Carlson, Executive Director of Carbonfund.org. "The leadership demonstrated by Carfax on climate change is critical to this generation and future ones as well."

The company is working with The Conservation Fund on a long term carbon reduction plan. Future plans include opportunities for Carfax dealer customers and used car shoppers to offset the carbon emissions for the cars they buy and drive. Carfax would offer its staff opportunities to help reduce their carbon footprint as well.
