Caremark Rx to Open State-of-the-Art Mail Service Pharmacy in Phoenix, AZ; Pharmacy to Employ 600 Over the Next Two Years.

Caremark Rx, Inc. (NYSE: CMX) today announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art pharmacy in the Cotton Center Commons in metropolitan Phoenix.

The new facility will feature order entry, clinical intervention and automated dispensing of patient prescriptions.

The facility marks Caremark's debut in the Phoenix market, which was selected in recognition of the area's qualified labor force, superior technological talent, geographical convenience and infrastructure. "Our business requires a high quality workforce, with exceptional people to run our pharmacies. Having researched the local employment availability we found a perfect match for our needs in Phoenix," said Rich Scardina, Senior Vice President of Operations for Caremark.

Over the next two years, the 80,000 square foot Cotton Center pharmacy will employ 600 people, including more than 120 pharmacists, 200 pharmacy technicians and 280 administrative/clerical positions. Later this year, the pharmacy will begin order entry and patient prescription processing. Recruiting efforts have already begun in Phoenix.
