Career tech teachers are among DisneyHand award winners.


When the 39 recipients of the 2004 DisneyHand Teacher Awards were selected from the 150,000 nominees, the winners included Chuck Boucher, Jason Larison and Joe Underwood.

Chuck Boucher teaches a class in biotechnology, 3D animation and engineering design at Burrillville High School in Harrisville, R.I., but among his other accomplishments are the creation of culinary arts and entertainment academies. In 2001-02, he was the recipient of a Radio Shack See RadioShack.  National Science and Technology Award, and in 2003 was a member of the USA Today USA Today

National U.S. daily general-interest newspaper, the first of its kind. Launched in 1982 by Allen Neuharth, head of the Gannett newspaper chain, it reached a circulation of one million within a year and surpassed two million in the 1990s.

He was a national finalist for the 2002 FFA FFA free fatty acids.  Agriscience Teacher of the Year and was the National Association of Agricultural Educators Region II Outstanding Young Member of 1998. His chapter was the first-place FFA Chapter in the State of Kansas for 2001, 2002 and 2003.

Joe Underwood teaches television and media production and filmmaking at Miami High School Miami High School is a term used to refer to many high schools in the United States, as well as one school in Australia.

Jeffrey Thompson, a kindergarten teacher at Evergreen Elementary School in Fort Lewis, Wash., took top honors in the DisneyHand Teacher Awards for 2004. The focus of the awards is to recognize the teaching profession, showcase creativity in the classroom and honor those who can assist in developing creative teaching strategies in their school districts.
