) notes that the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) is a regional educational accreditation agency for over 13,000 public and private educational institutions ranging from preschool to college level in the southern United States.  ("SACS") has posted on its website (www.sacscoc.org) additional information regarding their actions at the December 6, 2004 Commission meeting regarding its American InterContinental University American InterContinental University, commonly called AIU, is an international for-profit university owned by Career Education Corporation (stock symbol CECO). It was founded in 1977 as the American College of Applied Arts.  ("AIU AIU American Intercontinental University

As previously disclosed, SACS removed the institution from Warning status, deferred consideration of substantive changes and authorized a Special Committee to visit the institution. The Special Committee has been asked to visit AIU within the next 12 months and evaluate the institution regarding certain of the SACS Principles of Accreditation. SACS is also requesting a Follow-up Report in September 2007 relating to institutional effectiveness.

AIU is committed to continuing to work closely with SACS as it continues to provide quality educational programs and services to its students.
