Care solutions; Mailbag.THE closing of village libraries is unbelievable when more people are now over 50 and having more leisure time but maybe cannot get to town or carry shopping plus books. What could be more intelligent than to utilise the libraries for community centres and, if the buildings are small, place a mobile library in the vicinity or have internet facilities where you can shop online and have your food delivered? Government are always telling us they care. They do not want people cluttering the hospitals, so they give grants to keep people active and healthy by supplying finance for ramps, chiropody chiropody: see podiatry. centres, community events, trips, etc to keep active. Surely everyone wishes to live as long as possible and maybe have meals laid on at centres? Many people become incapable of cooking meals daily and rely on frozen ones being delivered each week. We can learn quite a lot where our culture differs form Asian families - they don't put their elderly people in homes, they stay with their families and they all share the responsibilities. Most of the grants available come from government sources or local councils, even DHSS DHSS (Brit) n abbr (formerly) (= Department of Health and Social Security) → Ministerium für Gesundheit und Sozialfürsorge and pensions can be contacted.
