Care plus workshop assists nurse.I want to thank NZNO NZNO New Zealand Nurses Organisation for enabling me to attend a workshop on managing lifelong conditions (currently known as Care Plus) in Palmerston North Palmerston North, city (1996 pop. 73,095), S North Island, New Zealand. Without the NZNO grant I would not have been able to attend. I suspect few Pacific Island nurses were aware there were five scholarships available if they had wanted to attend. Only those with clear chronic diseases, eg diabetes and hypertension hypertension or high blood pressure, elevated blood pressure resulting from an increase in the amount of blood pumped by the heart or from increased resistance to the flow of blood through the small arterial blood vessels (arterioles). , are eligible. I was grateful to have been one of more than 80 nurse participants at this workshop. I hope we have more in the future to increase our learning and assist in evaluating how the programme is progressing. It was also good to hear why things were working well in some areas and not so well in others. Attending the workshop has enabled me and my colleagues to improve our service and the care we give our Pacific people and their families.
