: CTE (Coefficient of Thermal Expansion) The difference between the way two materials expand when heat is applied. This is very critical when chips are mounted to printed circuit boards, because the silicon chip expands at a different rate than the plastic board. ) today announced completion of a long-term biodurability and performance study using the Company's VascuLink Vascular Access vascular access Clinical medicine The ability to enter the vascular system; the ease with which the vascular system can be entered for administering therapy or obtaining blood for testing  Graft.

Performed by Staffan Bowald, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Surgery at the University Hospital in Uppsala, Sweden and Principal at Assist Medical AB in Sweden, grafts were implanted into canines. Grafts were monitored monthly for patency pa·ten·cy

patency

the condition of being open.
(free blood flow) and pulsatile pulsatile /pul·sa·tile/ (pul´sah-til) characterized by a rhythmic pulsation.

pul·sa·tile
adj.
Undergoing pulsation.

pulsatile

characterized by a rhythmic pulsation.
(natural) blood flow by ultrasound. The grafts were explanted after 20 months and analyzed for mechanical, structural and chemical integrity.

Dr. Michael Szycher, Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of CardioTech, commented: "The results confirm the long-term biodurability of our proprietary polyurethane. There was no sign of environmental stress cracking in the grafts, which has historically hampered the use of polyurethanes for long-term implantable devices such as vascular grafts. We believe that the results of the study will contribute towards the ultimate acceptance of second-generation polyurethanes by the scientific community."

These results will be presented by Dr. Szycher, at the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Society of Biomaterials being held in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded , May 1, 1997. The paper is entitled: "In Vivo in vivo /in vi·vo/ (ve´vo) [L.] within the living body.

in vi·vo
adj.
Within a living organism.

in vivo adv.
 Testing of a Biodurable Polyurethane."

Dr. Bowald commented: "My opinion is that the patency and biodurability is outstanding compared to other commercially-available grafts. In situ In place. When something is "in situ," it is in its original location.  compliance (pulsatile blood flow) was confirmed during the entire 20 months of the investigation. This is an important observation with a polyurethane graft and a characteristic which is very promising for a successful clinical performance."

The company believes that this release contains forward-looking statements that are subject to risks and uncertainties. These forward-looking statements include the long-term biodurability and other properties of the Company's proprietary polyurethane and the acceptance of such polyurethane by the scientific community. Such statements are based on management's current expectations and are subject to a number of factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from the forward-looking statements. The Company cautions investors that there can be no assurance that the actual results or business conditions will not differ materially from those projected or suggested in such forward-looking statements, as a result of various factors, including but not limited to the following: intense competition related to the development of synthetic grafts, difficulties inherent in developing synthetic grafts, the timely development of products by the Company and the Company's ability to obtain financing to support its working capital needs. As a result, the Company's further development involves a high degree of risk.
