CardioDynamics Announces the Results of BioZ Multi-Center Cardiac Output Correlation Study at 47th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology, Atlanta.

SAN DIEGO--(BW HealthWire)--April 2, 1998--CardioDynamics International Corporation (NASDAQ:CDIC), today announced that a major multi-center clinical study has shown an impressive correlation between the data obtained from the Company's noninvasive BioZ(TM) System cardiac output monitor and the data obtained from Pulmonary Artery Catheterization (PAC).

The study results were presented at the 47th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology (A.C.C.) in Atlanta, Georgia, by Dr. Anthony N. DeMaria, the study's Chief Investigator.

The Cardiac Output Correlation Study (the COST Study) was conducted in 1997 and involved 191 patients at seven centers including University of California at San Diego, Mercy-Scripps Hospital, Naval Hospital, Alvarado Hospital and Grossmont Hospital, all of San Diego; St. John's Hospital and Health Center, Santa Monica, Calif.; and Crawford Long Hospital, Atlanta.

Dr. DeMaria, Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of California at San Diego and Chief Investigator of the COST Study, stated that the clinical study demonstrated the validity of CardioDynamics' Thoracic Electrical Bioimpedance (TEB) noninvasive technology.

CardioDynamics viewed the completion and presentation of a major multi-center correlation study, such as the COST Study, to be a significant step towards the widespread acceptance of the BioZ System in the medical community for cardiac and intensive care applications.

The Company's goal is for the BioZ's technology, TEB, to become a standard of care, very similar to blood pressure monitoring, electrocardiograms (EKG) and pulse oximetry.
