Cardinal Technologies Ships Connecta 56 Kbps Modem Series.


LANCASTER, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 24, 1997--

ship value-priced 56 Kbps modems with x2 technology

Cardinal Technologies today announced the new Cardinal Connecta family of 56 Kbps (kilobits per second (unit) kilobits per second - (kbps, kb/s) A unit of data rate where 1 kb/s = 1000 bits per second. This contrasts with units of storage where 1 Kb = 1024 bits (note upper case K). ) and 56 Kbps-ready internal and external modems featuring x2 technology.

Cardinal will ship 56 Kbps modems in March with x2 technology which most of the major Internet and Online Service Providers are using to enable 56 Kbps speeds for their customers. With its increased speeds, low price and quality Internet software, Cardinal Connecta gives users a great value.

The Cardinal Connecta family includes 56 Kbps and 56 Kbps-ready internal and external modems. The Connecta 56 Kbps modems ship preconfigured Set up ahead of time. It implies that the device or software application has been modified to suit the customer or situation. The Connecta 56 Kbps-ready modems come preconfigured to run at 33.6 Kbps and are software upgradable to 56 Kbps.

The Cardinal Connecta product line also includes a 56 Kbps and 56 Kbps-ready internal Windows-only soft modem Software that performs modem functions using the computer's main CPU rather than in modem hardware. Instead of using a dedicated data pump, programmable DSP chips are used.
