Carbon Design Systems Exhibits & Hosts Virtual System Prototyping Methodology Session & Luncheon at DATE in Munich.Carbon Design Systems:
Who:
Carbon Design Systems, an innovator in Electronic System Level
(ESL) tools for system validation, based in Waltham, MA.
What:
Carbon's Virtual Prototyping Software
At DATE 2006, Carbon Design Systems is demonstrating its virtual
system prototyping software product -- SOC-VSP(TM) -- that allows
RTL (Verilog and VHDL) designs to be easily imported into an
ARM(R) RealView(R) SoC Designer environment. SOC-VSP enables
multiple levels of design abstraction to be combined in a single
system model. Models can include: 'C', SystemC, RTL, processor
models, and transaction-level models. SOC-VSP is used by system
architects and software developers to validate their chip
architecture and embedded firmware on a hardware accurate model.
Carbon's Technical Seminar & Luncheon
A Virtual System Prototyping Methodology for ARM Processor-based
SoCs
Carbon and ARM will present a joint seminar on electronic system
level (ESL) tools and an accompanying methodology for
system-on-chip (SoC) design that includes architectural modeling,
performance analysis, firmware development, and system validation.
The session will show how Carbon's SOC-VSP and ARM's RealView SoC
Designer are used to develop and validate ARM processor-based SoC
designs. The methodology and tools presented in the seminar enable
early architecture and firmware validation using cycle-accurate,
transaction-level models in a high-performance system simulation
environment.

About Carbon Carbon is delivering a high-performance virtual system prototyping solution that enables a system prototype to be rapidly assembled and functionally validated val·i·date tr.v. val·i·dat·ed, val·i·dat·ing, val·i·dates 1. To declare or make legally valid. 2. To mark with an indication of official sanction. 3. on the desktop months before silicon. Carbon's new software approach allows multiple levels of abstraction In object technology, determining the essential characteristics of an object. Abstraction is one of the basic principles of object-oriented design, which allows for creating user-defined data types, known as objects. See object-oriented programming and encapsulation. 1. to be validated together including C, SystemC, Verilog and VHDL (VHSIC Hardware Description Language) A hardware description language (HDL) used to design electronic systems at the component, board and system level. VHDL allows models to be developed at a very high level of abstraction. RTL (Register Transfer Level) A high-level hardware description language (HDL) for defining digital circuits. The circuits are described as a collection of registers, Boolean equations, control logic such as "if-then-else" statements as well as complex event sequences; , IP cores, transaction-level, and instruction-level models.
