Carbite Golf Announces Viper Bite Irons With Optimum Balance Shaft; Checkmate CS-200: The Latest Innovation of Carbite Technology

San Diego, Calif., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The newest innovation featuring Carbite Technology, the Optimum Balance (O.B.) shaft, will be released at the 1996 International Golf Show in Las Vegas. The new Viper Bite Iron Sets will feature not only Carbite face technology, but also the new O.B. shaft. The O.B. shaft is a ultra lightweight graphite shaft featuring the newest advances in graphite fiber matrixes and manufacturing technologies.

"I'm very pleased we are able to offer a shaft with these features at such a reasonable price", said Mike Spacciapolli, Carbite's President, "We have lightened the shaft substantially and lowered the balance point. This will give most players added power, control and distance without any extra swing effort. The overall weight of the club is much lighter than most clubs which should also help lessen fatigue," added Mike.

The Viper Bite set of 8 irons has a suggested retail price of $792.00. Deliveries will be available in the fall.

Carbite Golf (VSE: CAB), is also pleased to announce the release of the newest product utilizing Carbite Technology .... the CS-200 iron. "We have taken what we learned on tour and integrated it into a new club that will help players of all skill levels", stated Carbite's President, Mike Spacciapolli. "We've slightly offset the head and straightened the leading edge, which should aid both playability and alignment", added Mike.

The new head also has an all new insert. "While we have had the Tungsten Carbide/Bronze insert for several years now, through extensive research we have developed a powder metallurgy technique that allows us to manufacture an insert with modified square grooves. This will only enhance the already great playability of the CheckMate Wedge", said Chet Shira, Carbite's founder.

The CS-200 Wedge series will be available in pro and retail shops everywhere by November. Carbite manufactures wedges, putters and iron sets under the trademarks, CheckMate, Baxspin, Tru-Spin, Viper Bite and Dual- Density.
