Carat North America Signs 7-Year Contract With Nielsen Media Research; Also Signs for Monitor-Plus and Nielsen//NetRatings Services.

: NMR NMR: see magnetic resonance. ) announced today the signing of a new, seven-year advertising agency contract with Carat North America North America, third largest continent (1990 est. pop. 365,000,000), c.9,400,000 sq mi (24,346,000 sq km), the northern of the two continents of the Western Hemisphere. . The agreement includes electronic access to the full range of national broadcast, cable and syndicated information. Separately, Carat signed up for the Nielsen//NetRatings Internet measurement service, and expanded its contract with Monitor-Plus, the competitive advertising intelligence service from Nielsen Media Research.

Carat will have access to person-by-person viewing data (also called respondent-level data) from the National People Meter The People Meter is a device and system used by Nielsen Media Research in the USA to allow a relatively passive measurement of the viewing habits of TV and cable audiences. The people meter was invented by a British company called Audits of Great Britain, or AGB for short.  sample. The agreement supports both the current and future methodologies that Nielsen Media Research will use to measure television in tomorrow's digital environment. A new electronic metering system, called the Active/Passive Meter, is being tested in 500 installed households in the Northeast U.S.

This new agreement with Nielsen Media Research is a demonstration of that commitment."

The Nielsen//NetRatings service will provide Carat with unique banner tracking information, "and this will allow us to track our campaigns at a level of detail not possible before or from any other service," added Burke. "The timely nature of the information allows us to take action when it matters, as well as help us plan and manage our Internet campaigns."
