Carapelli to unveil $190 laptop.Byline: Dubai (Image: laptop.gif ) Taiwan-based Carapelli Computer will unveil the world's cheapest laptop in Dubai for just Dh699 ($190), a report said. Billed as the world's smallest laptop, the Impulse NPX-9000 weighs a mere 725 grams and will be on sale in Dubai in 2 weeks' time, according to Gulf News. 'We have shipped 100 units initially and the demand for this product is going to be robust. We have got a lot of queries about this product,' said Bunty Punjabi, sales manager, Carapelli Computer. Carapelli's first computer, the Impulse NPX-9000, is a China-assembled netbook and costs only Dh477 ($130) each for orders of atleast 100 units. It comes with a 400MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. processor, 128MB RAM, 1GB NAND Flash storage and a seven-inch analog screen, 80-key keyboard, SD card slot, VGA port, two USB ports, and a mini USB port in addition to two audio ports. There is no hard disk drive and it runs on a Linux operating system without a built-in LAN card. Other features include USB USB in full Universal Serial Bus Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer. LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used. Dongle The term was originally slang for a "hardware key." Today, the term is often used to refer to any small adapter that has a short cable with connectors at both ends.
