Car workers praised by Mandelson.


BUSINESS Secretary Lord Mandelson is in Japan and South Korea to strengthen the UK's business and economic ties.

He met senior representatives from Toyota in Tokyo yesterday to discuss the challenges facing the car industry.

Lord Mandelson said: "I welcome the news that Toyota is committed to long-term production at both Deeside and Burnaston. Both plants have a highly efficient and committed workforce.

"The company has clearly identified the environmental challenges associated with the move to the low carbon economy and has moved early to be at the forefront of this technological change."
