McRon Thompson of Richmond, Texas The city of Richmond is the county seat of Fort Bend CountyGR6 in the U.S. state of Texas within the Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown metropolitan area. As of the 2000 U.S. Census, the city population was 11,081. , stopped at a car wash to clean his vehicle at about 1 a.m. on May 26, shortly after leaving work. While he was cleaning his car, he noticed three vehicles slowly cruise through the parking lot. When he noticed the cars slowly proceeding past for a second time, he got a gun from the car, loaded it, and put it in his pocket.

When the youths told him to get out of the car and lie down in the grass, Thompson got his pistol out of his pocket and started shooting, hitting both of the carjackers before they could get into the car and drive off, reported the Houston Chronicle.

The two carjackers then tried to run off, but police at a station a mere block away from the scene heard the gunshots and saturated saturated /sat·u·rat·ed/ (sach´ah-rat?ed)
