Car poll's signs shock.

Drivers fail to recognise as many as 31% of road signs, a survey has revealed.

And it was motorists with more than 30 years of driving experience who were least likely to correctly spot signs, the poll conducted for Tesco Car Insurance found.

Also, those who had taken the theory test part of the driving test, introduced nine years ago, fared only a little better than the 31% national average for non-recognition.

The survey also revealed that male motorists are consistently better at correctly identifying road signs than female drivers.
