A 22-YEAR-OLD man remains on bail as police continue to investigate the drive-by shooting of a Coventry man in a residential street.

The city man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 25-year-old man was blasted in the stomach with a shotgun on Sunday, May 24, over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The suspect was quizzed by detectives based at Chace Avenue police station in Willenhall before being released, pending further inquiries.

The 25-year-old victim was walking along The Boxhill, Stoke Aldermoor at about 8.30pm when a silver/grey Vauxhall Zafira pulled up alongside and a shotgun was fired, hitting the man in the stomach. The car then sped off towards Siddeley Avenue.

The victim's injuries are described by police as "non-life-threatening".

Police found the car abandoned and on fire in Alliance Way, Stoke Heath, at about 9.45 that evening.

The Zafira had false plates with the number NJ06 VBL VBL Versorgungsanstalt des Bundes und der Länder (Occupational pension, Germany)
