Car firm's staff are all art...MIDLAND car giant Land Rover See LANRover. had a grand drive to help a hospital and donated pounds 1,000 towards its creative Art Cart service. Volunteers at Solihull Hospital were presented the cash towards replenishing art and craft supplies on the cart, which provides welcome relief and entertainment for patients stuck on the wards. Land Rover UK donated the funds after receiving voluntary pay deductions from employees. Janet Pratt, arts co-ordinator, said: "The cart service is very popular amongst patients of all ages as they get to enjoy something different whilst in hospital. "The art cart means patients can enjoy activities such as knitting knitting, construction of a fabric made of interlocking loops of yarn by means of needles. Knitting, allied in origin to weaving and to the netting and knotting of fishnets and snares, was apparently unknown in Europe before the 15th cent. , embroidery embroidery, ornamental needlework applied to all varieties of fabrics and worked with many sorts of thread—linen, cotton, wool, silk, gold, and even hair. Decorative objects, such as shells, feathers, beads, and jewels, are often sewn to the embroidered piece. , puzzles and colouring and the donation will help fund additional activities. "A donation like this means we can continue to improve the activities on the cart and keep it running." The art cart, which has been running for over three years, is operated by volunteers three times a week and visits all wards across the hospital.
