THE POVERINA 4, VILLAGE PARK RANGERS 3 THE Pov practically secured the league title after a great match. Village Park started the better and Ian Gowing hit the post after only five minutes. The game took a dramatic twist when the Pov had their left winger sent off for foul and abusive language after 20 minutes. Moments later they went behind as Eddie Woodhall scored a great volley from the edge of the area. The Pov piled on the pressure and equalised just before half-time. But within minutes of the second half starting, Village Park stormed into a 3-1 lead. Phillip Darbyshire grabbed his ninth goal of the season from the penalty spot before Gowing converted to seemingly wrap up the game for Rangers. In need of a win, the Pov threw caution to the wind and poured men forward. With 20 minutes left they pulled a goal back after a mix-up in the Rangers defence. The visitors then went close to adding to their lead soon after with the Pov keeper making a tremendous save from a Chris Hogarth header. The miss proved costly as, minutes later, the Pov raced through on goal from midfield and fired the equaliser past the despairing keeper. Rangers' striker Tom Dixon hit the post before the Pov claimed a dramatic winner with just five minutes to go. KEN BOYER TROPHY ST HILDA'S 2, THE MINERS 0 LAST season's finalists St Hilda's moved into the last four. They took the lead on the halfhour through Leadbeater who finished at the near post latching onto a low cross from P White.
