Capture the sights of your city in photography competition.


BUDDING photographers will already be familiar with the beautiful sights and hidden gems in and around Cardiff.

Now you can put your keen eye and camerawork to good use - and win pounds 1,000 by entering our Cardiff Through A Lens Competition.

Construction company Taylor Wimpey Taylor Wimpey plc (LSE: TW.) (formerly Taylor Woodrow plc) is the largest British based house building and general construction company and the fifth largest in the world. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.  is teaming up with the South Wales Echo The South Wales Echo is a daily newspaper distributed in south Wales. It was founded in 1884 and is based in Thomson House, Cardiff city centre. It is published daily, in a tabloid form, by Media Wales Ltd (formerly Western Mail & Echo Ltd), part of the Trinity Mirror group.  to invite amateur photographers to capture the city though a lens.

The competition is an opportunity to arm yourself with a camera, explore the city outside your front door and capture the best of the capital on film.

There are no rules. You can be as creative as you like. All we ask is that you demonstrate through photography what you feel is the best part of living in Cardiff.

All entries will be judged by Taylor Wimpey and the Echo picture desk after the closing date. Ten photographs will be shortlisted from which three deserving winners will be selected. The overall winner will take home a cash prize of pounds 1,000 and two runners-up will receive Jessops vouchers worth pounds 100 and pounds 50, courtesy of Taylor Wimpey.

    "Our photography competition is an excellent way for locals to showcase Cardiff and celebrate why it is such a fantastic place to be.

    "We want residents across Cardiff to look more closely at the beautiful surroundings they enjoy every day and then capture them through a lens so homebuyers visiting our Cardiff developments can see exactly what a great city this is.

    "We can't wait to see what pictures we receive and, since there are so many beautiful views to choose from, we're sure the only challenge will be deciding which one to capture."

    Entrants should e-mail their favourite shots to cardiffthroughalens@htpr.co.uk no later than midnight on Friday, November 6. The top 10 photographs selected by the judging panel will be showcased in the Echo before going on display at the housebuilder's Cardiff developments, The Grove in Radyr, Equinox equinox (ē`kwĭnŏks), either of two points on the celestial sphere where the ecliptic and the celestial equator intersect. The vernal equinox, also known as "the first point of Aries," is the point at which the sun appears to cross the  in Penylan and Stratton Court in Pentwyn.

    The exhibitions will be unveiled on Saturday, November 21 and will remain on show for visitors to view at their leisure at the three developments until Christmas.
