TWO South African radio stars were taken hostage last week as part of a security drill for the 2010 World Cup.

5fm presenter Gareth Cliff and Maurice Carpede from 94.2 Jacaranda FM were dragged out of a briefing by armed, masked men and forced in to a "hijacked" jet.

Army planes then forced the rogue aircraft to land and the hostages were eventually released after careful negotiations.

The drill was apparently a huge success and journalists can now rest easy ahead of next year's finals.

Surely Scotland should splash out on a bid for Euro 2018 just so we can gag and bind Chick Young in the name of security.
