WEST LANCASHIRE West Lancashire is a local government district of Lancashire, England. Its council is based in Ormskirk.  farmer John Woods John Woods may refer to:
  • John Woods (Islamic Scholar), Professor of Iranian and Central Asian History, University of Chicago
  • John Woods (New Zealand) (1849–1934), composer of music for national anthem of New Zealand
 is the 2009 captain at Ormskirk.

He was educated at Malvern College and after National Service in the Army returned home to help his father Gilbert, a former member of Ormskirk, run the family farm at Aughton. He is the fourth generation to look after the farm.

Mr Woods began playing golf with a friend at Formby Ladies more than 50 years ago before joining Ormskirk in 1960. He is a member of the Northern Cricket Club The Northern Cricket Club, located in Crosby on north Merseyside, was founded in 1859. The original clubhouse was in Rawson Road in nearby Seaforth until 1879, when the club moved to Haigh Road in Waterloo Park.  and a member and former president of the Liverpool Ramblers Football club.

He has two sons, James, a member at Ormskirk and Robert, a member at Formby.

Before becoming captain at Ormskirk his proudest moment in golf was becoming captain of the Old Malverian Golf Society when they won the Halford Hewitt, a prestigious foursomes played against the old boys of more than 60 other schools, for the first time and also the Grafton Morrish, another competition for schools olds boys.

His wife, Gillian, is a member at Ormskirk and Formby Ladies
