Captain Star is based on the adventures of the inter-galactic hero created by cartoonist Steve Appleby whose comic strip originally appeared in The New Musical Express. The series comprises of thirteen half-hour episodes which will be brought to life by director Pete Bishop and produced by Geraldine Easter. The series is Executive Produced by Steven DeNure and Dan Maddicott and co-produced by Beth Stevenson. Captain Star will air on Children's ITV in the summer of 1997 followed by a screening on Nickelodeon in 1998.

The hilarious television adaptation focuses on the exploits of rocketship Captain Jim Star, an intergalactic salesman and the greatest hero the universe has ever know. He and his crew journey through the galaxies exploring the vast, uncharted reaches of space, discovering and naming bizarre new worlds, unusual life forms, and strange civilizations.

The series finds the Captain and his crew, First Officer Scarlette, Atomic Engine Stoker "Limbs" Jones and Navigator Black on their ship, the Boiling Hell, stuck on the remote and unexplored Nameless Planet awaiting further orders from mission control.

Voice overs for Captain Star and Limbs Jones are supplied by Richard E. Grant Richard E. Grant (born May 5, 1957) is a British actor known for portraying the world-weary, drug-crazed alcoholic Withnail in Withnail and I. Biography
