While all of these people were pilots (and some still are), many are also noted for contributions in areas such as aircraft design and manufacturing, navigation or

From his days as an Eastern Airline's Autogiro pilot to his current position as president of the United Flying Octogenarians (UFO's), Miller has continued to participate in and contribute to the aviation community.

Groen Brothers Aviation continues to build on and expand the knowledge of these early pioneers through the development of their Hawk 4 Gyroplane gyroplane: see autogiro. . Currently in the process of FAA type certification, the Hawk 4 will soon bring safe and affordable vertical take off and landing capabilities to the world of flight.

Completion of the certification process and delivery of aircraft are expected to begin in the spring of 2001.
