Captain Dale Dye, a native of Missouri, joined the United States Marine Corps United States Marine Corps (USMC) Separate military service within the U.S. Department of the Navy (see U.S. Navy), charged with providing marine troops for seizure and defense of advanced bases and with conducting operations on land and in the air in connection with in 1964 and served in Vietnam in 1965 and from 1967 through 1970, earning three Purple Hearts and the Bronze Star. He continued his military service, rising to the rank of Captain and serving on various missions around the world. A noted author, Captain Dye has written five novels, including "Platoon" with Oliver North, and served as a correspondent for Soldier of Fortune Magazine. Since moving to Los Angeles, Captain Dye has appeared in more than 30 feature films, including "Saving Private Ryan" and "Born on the Fourth of July Fourth of July, Independence Day, or July Fourth, U.S. holiday, commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
