Captain D's to Expand to Puerto Rico; Up to 125 Units Planned, First to Open in Mid Summer 2006.


NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Captain D's, a pioneer and leader in fast casual dining segment for seafood, will expand into its second international location with the addition of Puerto Rico Puerto Rico (pwār`tō rē`kō), island (2005 est. pop. 3,917,000), 3,508 sq mi (9,086 sq km), West Indies, c.1,000 mi (1,610 km) SE of Miami, Fla.  as a new development territory. Captain D's has signed a letter of intent with the Restaurant Development Group, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

Danny York, a principal of Restaurant Development Group, and Mike Pearce, Captain D's vice president of franchise development announced the agreement.

One of York's partners currently operates the 7-11 stores in Puerto Rico. A 20-year-veteran restaurant operator, York and his companies have operated Santa Fe Santa Fe, city, Argentina

Puerto Rico marks the second international expansion for 2006. Earlier this year, Captain D's opened the first of three restaurants in Trinidad with the option of 20 in Trinidad and Tobago Trinidad and Tobago (trĭn`ĭdăd, təbā`gō), officially Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, republic (2005 est. pop. 1,088,000), 1,980 sq mi (5,129 sq km), West Indies. The capital is Port of Spain. . With nearly 600 restaurants in 26 states and military bases around the world, Pearce said that the 36-year-old company had opened 20 new stores for 2005 and that the company plans to double that number for 2006.

According to York, Restaurant Development Group will open its first Captain D's in Puerto Rico later this summer.
