Capstone Turbine Corp. hires Townley and Sitton as directors of marketing.


TARZANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 2, 1996--Capstone Turbine Corp. has appointed two directors of marketing to capitalize on Cap´i`tal`ize on`

J.D. Sitton, formerly of PanEnergy Corp. and David L. Townley, formerly of The Southern Company join Capstone to develop distribution and support channels for the Capstone Turbogenerator and to build strategic alliances within the energy industry.

Sitton joined PanEnergy in 1985 as an engineer and has since served as general manager of engineering planning, project manager in PanEnergy's engineering department, assistant to a PanEnergy group vice president and director of strategic planning Strategic planning is an organization's process of defining its strategy, or direction, and making decisions on allocating its resources to pursue this strategy, including its capital and people.  and director of business development for PanEnergy's Texas Eastern subsidiary.

Later he was named vice president of 1 Source Energy Services Co. in 1994, and later that year was named senior vice president of marketing for PanEnergy Gas Services. Sitton is a member of the Natural Gas Association of Houston, the Natural Gas Transportation Association, the New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Gas Association and a past member of the Strategic Planning Committee of the American Gas Association.

Townley previously was director of special projects for Southern Development and Investment Group, a subsidiary of The Southern Company based in Atlanta. In 1989, Townley was nominated by Georgia Power to participate in a one-year executive exchange program sponsored by the White House where he served at the Pentagon as assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Production and Logistics).

Upon his return to Georgia Power in 1990, Townley worked in bulk power markets and market forecasting at Southern Company Services. Townley is a registered professional engineer in Georgia, a member of the American Nuclear Society The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is an international, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) scientific and educational organization consisting of approximately 11,000 engineers, scientists, educators, students, and others with nuclear-related interests. , a member of the Association of Energy Engineers, and has served on various industry committees with the Edison Electric Institute The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is the association of United States shareholder-owned electric power companies.
