Capsized canoeists in rescue drama.

THREE freezing capsized canoeists were plucked pluck

 to safety by a fishing vessel yesterday.

The dad and two sons got into trouble at Porth Llanlleiana yesterday afternoon.

The coastguard was alerted by a 999 call who called a local fishing vessel - Stingray stingray: see ray.

Any of various species (family Dasyatidae) of rays noted for their slender, whiplike tail with barbed, usually venomous spines.
 - to help rescue the stricken three from Liverpool.

The crew pulled them from the water and they were then airlifted by a Squadron 122 helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor for treatment.

Yesterday a Holyhead Coastguard spokesman said: "We received a 999 call at 1.46pm that three canoeists had capsized and were in the water at Porth Llanlleiana.

"We knew the fishing vessel Stingray was in the area.

"They got them aboard. "The three had been in the water half an hour and were hypothermic hy·po·ther·mi·a  
n.
Abnormally low body temperature.
