With the "Dig In Against Hunger" campaign, Food-PATCH is seeking funding that will enable it to construct a new food storage warehouse that will increase its capacity to meet the needs of Westchester's poor. A planned new state-of-the-art, 45,000 s/f emergency food distribution center--three times the size of its present warehouse--is to be constructed on a site being provided by Westchester county at the Grasslands campus in Valhalla. It will replace the group's current cramped cramped adj. 1. Uncomfortably small or restricted: cramped living quarters. 2. "Westchester county is our home and a major focus of our business interests. No organization provides a more needed and valuable service to the Westchester community than Food-PATCH." He added that the new warehouse is desperately needed. "Since it was founded 16 years ago, Food-PATCH has continuously expanded its services to the needy. The present warehouse is obviously too small, and with the Westchester county's willingness to provide the site for a new facility, the goal of building a warehouse that meets present and future needs is practical and attainable at·tain v. at·tained, at·tain·ing, at·tains v.tr. 1. Mr. Redis said the Cappelli gift is an important commitment to the funding initiative. "We are deeply appreciative that Louis Cappelli has agreed to assist us in this effort. We are currently distributing 4.7 million pounds of food per year from a very small warehouse. Clearly, a new warehouse is needed, and the support from Cappelli Enterprises is a major step in attaining that goal." Mr. Redis said that the gift will be formally acknowledged with the dedication of the community room and employee cafeteria cafeteria: see restaurant. at the planned new facility to Cappelli Enterprises. |
