Minnesota will have several new capitals come May. In celebration of the state's sesquicentennial ses·qui·cen·ten·ni·al

Via the Red Lake River, the Red River of the North, Lake Winnipeg and the Nelson River, it is part of the watershed of Hudson Bay.  Falls state "capitals for a day." The winning cities were chosen through an online election last fall and represent the state's geological diversity. The Capital for a Day designation is largely ceremonial, but will highlight the state's history, culture, natural resources and stories. Winning communities will be recognized during Minnesota's Statehood Week, May 11-18 and will work with the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission to plan activities to raise awareness for their area.
