Capital to have anti-terrorism committees.

ISLAMABAD, November 16, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Islamabad police will form anti-terrorism committees with the participation of youth, senior citizens and police men from the emergency service, the police chief said Monday. The Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Kaleem Imam said the new idea is aimed at seeking support of community in countering terror elements. Islamabad has seen series at least four terrorist attacks in Islamic university, on senior army officers and federal minister for religious affairs in two months. Imam said that members of these committees would visit the educational institutions and guide the students as how to counter terrorism threats in the present scenario. They would also visit the markets and various sectors to collect information about the tenants. Reviewing the performance of the emergency police called Rescue 15, the police chief emphasized to improve the functioning of this unit and directed to establish a legal desk there for counselling to the people involved in minor conflicts. He said that Help Desks have been established at the various hospitals by Rescue 15 which would provide help to the people in case of any emergency or mishap. He also hinted towards providing the Safe and Secure Cab System to the citizens and launching various schemes for the welfare of policemen including Medical Dispensary, Mess and Barracks at Rescue 15. Syed Kaleem Imam said that every possible effort would be made to provide maximum facilities to the policemen. The performance definitely improves if one has the comfort in mind regarding the resolution of problems on priority, he added.
