Capital gains reduction, death tax repeal extended.


The U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2006 Budget Resolution (H.Con.Res. 95) in March by a vote of 218-214. Included in the $2.5 trillion One thousand times one billion, which is 1, followed by 12 zeros, or 10 to the 12th power. See space/time.

 spending plan is $106 billion in tax relief.

The House budget resolution accommodates all the expiring ex·pire  
v. ex·pired, ex·pir·ing, ex·pires

 tax provisions in the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts that were supported by the metalcasting industry, including: the capital gains and dividends tax reductions; Section 179 expensing; and the estate or "death" tax repeal The Annulment or abrogation of a previously existing statute by the enactment of a later law that revokes the former law.

The revocation of the law can either be done through an express repeal
. Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT See vPro. ) relief and the Research and Experimentation tax credit extensions also were included.

The House budget resolution aims to cut the deficit in half by 2009. Non-defense/non-homeland security discretionary spending was cut by an average of 0.8%. Various authorizing committees will have to cut mandatory spending by $68.6 billion over five years.

At the same time, the Senate passed a slightly different budget resolution (S.Con.Res. 18) by a vote of 51-49. Contrary to the House plan, the Senate's version included only $17 billion in mandatory spending cuts Noun 1. spending cut - the act of reducing spending
