Capital building in line for Tesco store and new cafe; IN ASSOCIATION WITH Rensburg Sheppards Location City's biggest office block gets store branch.

RETAILER Tesco is to open one of its Tesco Express stores within a Liverpool city centre office complex.

Britain's biggest grocer has signed leases to occupy a newly created 4,000 sq ft unit in the atrium atrium (ā`trēəm), term for an interior court in Roman domestic architecture and also for a type of entrance court in early Christian churches. The Roman atrium was an unroofed or partially roofed area with rooms opening from it.  of The Capital, the city's largest office building in the heart of the central business district.

The new store will front on to Old Hall Street, operated under the Tesco Express brand.

The Capital and the atrium is owned by Downing, Merseyside's biggest commercial landlord. The atrium is also the entrance hall to the adjacent Liverpool Daily Post The Liverpool Daily Post is a newspaper published by Trinity Mirror on Merseyside in England. It is published Monday to Saturday and is published in Merseyside, Cheshire, and North Wales editions, and is the morning paper.  & Echo building.

Robin Ellis Robin Ellis (born January 8, 1942 London) is an English actor who is best remembered as having starred in both Poldark mini-series on television, playing Captain Ross Poldark. , the senior agency surveyor at Downing, said: "Attracting a retailer of Tesco's pedigree is another significant milestone in the transformation of The Capital into a cosmopolitan business centre.

"The building's atrium is already a popular meeting place, and the new cafe will build on this with a first-class operation, run by an operator that shares Downing's passion for quality. The Capital's facilities are what sets it apart from other commercial properties.

"The new lifestyle features will benefit tenants with high-quality amenities on their doorstep, while contributing to the wider appeal of Liverpool's commercial district."

Downing has been advancing Liverpool's largest Grade Aequivalent refurbishment scheme at The Capital since acquiring the building in 2006 for a record pounds 51m.

The pounds 10m project is delivering new office space alongside additional business and lifestyle facilities.

The new Tesco Express is due to open its doors in mid-2009.
