Each year, Capella holds approximately eight residential colloquia, during which the online university's students meet with colleagues and faculty in six days of lectures and academic seminars to analyze and discuss specific topics within their degree specializations. Every Capella PhD student and some master's degree students are required to attend colloquia, which are held at locations throughout the United States. Of the more than 23,400 students pursuing an online degree at Capella, approximately 85 percent are pursuing PhD or master's degrees.
