Capella University Faculty Member Receives Human Rights Award.

Online university faculty member received the award from the Oklahoma Counseling Association

MINNEAPOLIS -- Benjamin Noah, Ph.D., NCC, NCCC, ACS, LPC, a faculty member for Capella University (www.capella.edu), was recently awarded the Oklahoma Counseling Association's Human Rights Award. The award is presented in recognition of an OCA member who has made major contributions in human rights.

Noah is a core faculty member in the School of Human Services at Capella, an accredited(a) online university, and is also an independent counselor. His human rights work includes helping at-risk children at the elementary level, including children with mental or social disadvantages through pro-bono counseling and tutoring. He is also a workshop organizer and leader for the Oklahoma Marriage Initiative, a statewide public/private partnership dedicated to strengthening families and helping couples build and sustain healthy marriages. Noah also started, and continues to maintain, OCA's Empty Plate Project, which raises funds for charities across the state.

"I'm honored to have received this award, but I get a lot more out of helping these children" Noah said.

The OCA's Human Rights Award recognizes members who are making significant contributions in human rights. These contributions may be through teaching, research, or direct service of leadership to the following populations: elderly, gay and lesbian, people with physical and mental disabilities, and ethnic minorities. Noah has been involved with the OCA since 2003.
