NEWTOWN, Pa. -- Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: BITI) announced today that CapMed, the cornerstone of its Personal Health Management Division, will be showcasing its next generation of personal health management solutions at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's 2007 Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference begins February 25 and runs through March 1, 2007.

CapMed will be unveiling its new, complete suite of Personal Health Management tools written in .Net architecture to optimize rapid customization and deployment. CapMed now offers three interchangeable formats: the Personal Health Record (PHR) desktop software to optimize marketing outreach of personal health tools and services; the portable Personal HealthKey[TM], which uses USB flash technology for ubiquitous portability of health information, with new enhancements for security, privacy, and data protection; and the Online PHR which operates as a standalone or in conjunction with the desktop or portable formats, and facilitates patient-directed permissions for sharing all or part of the patient's record with providers, caregivers and others. CapMed will be highlighting the new capabilities and features of the PHR Suite at CapMed's booth, #1763, including the demonstration of importing data into PHR from several sources, including claims information, medical summaries, prescription data, home monitoring devices and other portable electronic devices, such as cellular phones.

CapMed will also be featured in IBM's booth, demonstrating the "Consumer Empowerment Use Case," with both IBM and SureScripts, the nation's largest provider of electronic prescribing services, for the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN). The NHIN demonstration, a prototype network built under the auspices of the US Department of Health and Human Services and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), was designed to facilitate the secure sharing of information between hospitals, laboratories, pharmacies and physicians. CapMed has established a means for patients to use the Personal HealthKey to register with the Network, have their identity authenticated and download medication history directly into their portable PHR, and has enabled the means to transfer information from the PHR to the Network for providers to access.

In addition, CapMed will be active in the IHE Interoperability Showcase. Having participated in the rigorous certification process with over 300 vendors, CapMed will be the leading PHR-focused organization participating in the IHE Interoperability Showcase this year. CapMed will demonstrate interoperability utilizing IHE standards, which include HL-7 standards and the Continuity of Care Record. Throughout the Showcase, attendees will be able to create their own electronic health record and access it across multiple healthcare settings. The CapMed PHR will be the launching application for mock patients to begin accessing all other healthcare services. Interoperability highlights will include populating the PHR with lab results, radiology images, medical summaries, referrals, home monitoring device data and cardiology reports.
