Graham Cancer Center, part of the Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, DE. The Cancer Center will provide the HealthKeys to patients at no cost, in conjunction with the Care Management Division.

The Personal HealthKey, about the size of a small key and designed to be carried on a key chain, has been customized to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center and will be distributed through the doctors at the cancer center to patients interested in more active participation in their health management. The customization of the Personal HealthKey includes the inclusion of Christiana Care's patient registration and medical history forms. By using the Personal HealthKey patients can complete these forms at home, thus reducing the time they have to spend at the clinic, and greatly reducing paperwork. When visiting the cancer center the HealthKey is 'plugged-in' to a staff member's computer to provide updated patient information. Additionally the HealthKey will allow patients to track and manage all facets of health information, and link to relevant health and wellness education and other Christiana Care Health System resources (1) In a computer system, system resources are the components that provide its inherent capabilities and contribute to its overall performance. System memory, cache memory, hard disk space, IRQs and DMA channels are examples. .

Wendy Angst, general manager of CapMed stated, "Repetitive paperwork is one of the biggest complaints made by patients. By streamlining this process, Christiana Care is truly putting the patient's needs first. The Helen F. Graham Cancer Center HealthKey also helps the patients manage the many aspects of health and wellness management needed when one is faced with a serious condition such as cancer. Patients will be able to facilitate the communication of information among their various care providers, as well as self monitor labs and exercise schedules."

Tricia Strusowski, Director, Cancer Care Management of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, said, "The CapMed Personal HealthKey will make life a little easier for our cancer patients. Right now, these people spend a lot of time filling in the same information on numerous medical forms. By using the Personal Health Key patients will only have to complete this information once and after that the information can be retrieved electronically. In addition, we will be able to keep records current with greater ease because of the 2-way communication CapMed has built into the device. We are very pleased to have this information management tool available to people who are already dealing with serious health conditions and who don't need the added stress of paper shuffling."
