Canyon Ceman Joins Cherokee as a Marketing Executive.

VAN NUYS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1998--Cherokee Inc. (Nasdaq:CHKE), one of the leading licensors of brand names and trademarks for apparel, footwear and accessories in the United States, today announced that Canyon Ceman, one of the top professional beach volleyball players in the country, has joined the company as a marketing executive.

In this role, Ceman will help the company further develop and promote its Cherokee and Sideout brands.

Ceman is ranked in the top 10 on the Association of Volleyball Professionals Tour (AVP) and recently won the season ending 1998 AVP Tour Championship at Michigan. His career highlights include several tournament victories, including 2nd place in the 1998 King of the Beach tournament and 2nd place in the 1997 World Championships. He is sponsored by Sideout as well as Honda Motor Co. and Bausch and Lomb.

Ceman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior from Stanford University. He currently serves on the AVP Board of Directors and has also worked in promotions for Sideout Sport. Ceman will continue to play Professional Beach Volleyball both domestically and internationally as he prepares for the Olympics in 2000 as well as additional worldwide tournaments.
