Canon invests in future of digital imaging with Pixera Corporation; Canon and Pixera collaboration includes $2.4 million investment and joint product development.

Canon's investment accelerates Pixera's expansion of product development, marketing and sales in the rapidly emerging digital camera and visual communications markets.

Under terms of the agreement, Canon assumes a seat on Pixera Corporation's board of directors. Pixera's board also includes directors representing previous venture investment rounds. Pixera Corporation, founded in January 1995, develops digital cameras and visual communication systems that allow business users, personal users and imaging professionals to visualize, create and communicate using the Internet, e-mail, videophones and videoconferencing.
